Park Forest
Park Forest was the nation's first fully-planned post World War II suburb, incorporated in 1949. Its innovative design has been recognized and used as a model for towns throughout the world. The Village has received numerous livability citations including two All-America City Awards, two Governors Home Town Awards, the Burnham Award and, most recently, the Community Vision - Suburban Award.
In addition to numerous playgrounds, ball fields, and picnic facilities, Park Forest contains 26 tennis courts and one of the largest outdoor swimming complexes in the state. Thousands take to the streets each Labor Day for the Park Forest Scenic 5 and More which consists of a 5-mile race, bike ride and many other activities. There are many cultural arts attractions provided by the Illinois Theatre Center, the Tall Grass Arts Association, the Main Street Nights concert series and seasonal performances at Freedom Hall's Nathan Manilow Theatre.
